What You'll Do:

As a Student Care Teacher, you play a crucial role in the daily care, development and well-being of students under your supervision. You will facilitate daily routines, provide academic support, manage student behaviour, and create a safe, structured and nurturing environment. You will also work closely with parents and the centre team to support each child’s growth and development.

 

Key Responsibilities

Facilitate Daily Student Care Routines:

  • Ensure the smooth execution of daily routines, including arrival, dismissal, meals (lunch and tea break) and recreational activities.
  • Create a welcoming and nurturing environment for students.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, student progress and any incidents.
  • Prepare and update student profiles to track individual needs and development.
  • Support safe meal routines by being attentive to students’ dietary requirements and overall well-being.

Conduct Safe and Timely School Pick-Ups:

  • Perform pick-up duties from nearby schools when required.
  • Monitor school dismissal timings and plan pick-up arrangements accordingly.
  • Ensure students are escorted safely and adhere to established safety protocols.

Manage Student Behaviour and Development:

  • Respond proactively to students’ developmental and behavioural needs.
  • Foster positive relationships and guide students in developing good values and discipline.
  • Encourage participation in classroom and centre activities.
  • Apply appropriate behaviour management strategies and address issues in accordance with centre guidelines.

Provide Homework Guidance and Academic Support:

  • Supervise and guide students in completing daily homework assignments.
  • Support spelling practice and reinforcement of key academic areas, including English and Mother Tongue.
  • Monitor students’ academic progress and provide additional support where needed.
  • Communicate with parents on students’ learning progress and areas for improvement.

Maintain Student Work and Records:

  • Ensure students’ work is reviewed, marked and recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain organised and up-to-date records of students’ academic work and progress.
  • Ensure proper documentation and filing in accordance with centre procedures.
  • Handle student and parent information responsibly in accordance with data protection guidelines.

Plan and Deliver Centre Activities:

  • Plan, prepare and conduct programmes and activities based on provided lesson plans and schedules.
  • Ensure activities are engaging and aligned with students’ developmental needs and interests.
  • Provide updates on daily activities through designated communication platforms.

Build Strong Parent Relationships:

  • Maintain regular and professional communication with parents regarding student progress, behaviour and well-being.
  • Address parental queries and concerns in a timely and constructive manner.

Support Centre Operations and Student Safety:

  • Assist with administrative tasks such as form collection, fee handling and general centre support.
  • Support procurement of student-related items when required.
  • Maintain cleanliness and adhere to sanitation and safety guidelines.
  • Follow established procedures for medication handling, ensuring proper documentation and safe administration when required.
  • Supervise students during device-based learning and ensure appropriate usage in line with centre guidelines.
  • Support safe use and care of centre equipment and report any issues promptly.
  • Support other centres or duties when required based on operational needs.
  • Assist with other ad-hoc tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

Working Hours:

  • Follow assigned working hours of the centre during school term.
  • Alternative working hours during school holidays: Shift 1 (7am–4pm) or Shift 2 (8am–5pm) / (9am–6pm).
  • Support and conduct holiday programmes in addition to regular centre activities.

 

About You:

  • Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Services or a related field is preferred. (Candidates without a Diploma but with relevant experience are welcome to apply)
  • Prior experience in student care, childcare or working with children is an advantage.
  • Positive and possess a can-do attitude.
  • Strong command of language especially in spoken and written English. Highly advantageous if multi-lingual and able to read and speak in Mandarin.
  • Patient, nurturing and able to build positive relationships with children.
  • Good organisational skills and able to work under pressure.
  • Responsible, dependable and attentive to students’ needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Creative in planning and conducting student activities.
  • Meticulous in handling student records and assigned tasks.
